Staalmeester Oval Brush
The Staalmeester oval brush is the largest brush we carry and has a combination of natural and synthetic bristles which allow it to load a lot of paint and maintain a relatively brushstroke free finish. Each Staalmeester brush has a beautiful beechwood handle and striking copper ferrule. The bright orange string surrounds the base of the bristles and keeps them tight and in shape. You should leave the string in place.
The Staalmeester is the Rolls Royce of Brushes. A unique synthetic / natural bristle blend that has a short natural china bristle, blended with a longer silky synthetic bristle. The natural bristle ensures better paint absorption and the synthetic bristle component allows for a smooth, even application having minimal to no brush strokes.
When starting off with a new or dry brush submerge into water to the ferrule briefly just to dampen the bristles. Give the bristles including the string a squeeze so that the brush is barely damp.
Dip your brush into the paint only half way up the bristles, otherwise it is too much paint on the brush, and clean up will be more work.
Should you notice any brush strokes, you have too much paint on your brush.
You don’t want to see paint dripping off your brush, you want enough that when you go to apply the brush, it doesn’t drag across, but slides nicely across without minimal effort.
