High Performance Topcoat

General Finishes’ High Performance Topcoat (HPTC) is award winning, voted as the hardest, most durable consumer polyurethane topcoat. It can be brushed, sprayed, or rolled.  I find it easy to apply with a foam brush. 

It is available in four sheens: Gloss, Semi Gloss, Satin, and Dead Flat.

HPTC is a great topcoat choice for the General Finishes water based stains.

CAUTION: Do NOT use GF High Performance or any other clear coat, over white or light paints as it may cause yellowing. Any clear coat can become reactive over wood substrates or existing finishes causing tannin, stain or dye bleed-through.

You can block tannin bleed through with Zinsser BIN shellac based primer or General Finishes’ new WATER BASED blocking primer.
